All sorts of greek and mediterranean beaches, both traditional and exotic, is here. The beaches that are well-known for their crystal clear waters are: Psili Ammos (northwest), Vlychada (south) and Vitsilia (southeast). Of course there are plenty of other beaches of extraordinary beauty.
Kampi: at a distance of 1 km from the port with rooms to rent and taverns by the sea, easy access with comfortable stairs that lead to the seafront with its blue waters and sandy beach.
Psili Ammos: a beach close to the port, with breath-taking view to Thymena island. The beach was named after its thin sand (psili ammos in greek).
Chrisomilia: the biggest beach of the island, located at 15 km northwest of Fourni. It is sandy with tamarix surrounding it and traditional taverns.
The biggest are:
Saint John: small houses scattered along the slope with view to the sea, with a total number of 240 stairs, lead to the idyllic and calm Saint John’s bay.
Petrokopi: located on the western side of the island in a well protected bay, with crystal waters and all-white pebbles.
Kamari: at the eastern part of Fourni, at a distance of 10 km from the capital, you can find this captivating beach with crystal waters, highly indicated for spearfishing lovers.
Kasidi: right next to Vlychada, with crystal clear turquoise waters and sandy beach.
Elidaki: very close to Kampi, this sandy beach with blue waters will captivate you.
Vitsilia: sandy, land-locked by rocky coast, full of tamarix.
Vlychada: at a distance of 8 km south of the port, in a well sheltered bay with shallow crystal waters and small pebbles.
Koumara: clear waters in a natural environment full of strawberry trees (the beach is named after these trees; Koumara means strawberry tree in greek). The beach is easily accessible thanks to stairs that lead directly in front of the waves.
Ampelos: isolated, hidden among rocks and thick vegetation, ideal for nature lovers.
Agia Triada: close to Chrisomilia at the northeastern part of the island with sandy beach and crystal waters.
Keramidou: sheltered and calm bay with sandy beach and tamarix, close to Thymena village. It has crystal clear waters and a tavern by the sea.
You can also find many aromatic plants, such as thyme, meadow claries, oregano, rare wild flowers and the legendary mandrake (a plant that is known since ancient times for its hypnotic-analgesic-calming properties) that give a truly special scent to the island.
